Survey of the regulatory structures of European states without nuclear power reactors

The importance of an effective nuclear regulatory system has once again emerged after the Fukushima nuclear disaster. In response, the OECD-NEA has prepared and published in a working group “Characteristics of an Effective Nuclear Regulator” .
At the EU level too, such requirements can be found in newly created directives.

These guidelines suggest a fundamental revision of the Austrian Radiation Protection Act, in particular a rethinking of the Austrian nuclear regulation.
